Originally called Holborn Hill, Millom is a charming little coastal town on the southern fringe of the Lake District and overlooking Duddon Sands. Here the visitor is spoilt for choice as to what to do first; visit the Lakes, the coast, or wander around the Millom shops and restaurants. With an impressive list of suppliers resulting in fascinating stock from around the world, local appeal is also prominently in evidence in the form of Lakeland Fragrances, reflecting the romance of the Lakes and created locally using traditional methods, and of course the world famous Kendal Cake. Probably the first ever energy bar it certainly lived up to its reputation in 1953 when it was they say the most popular item in the supplies of the Hillary and Tenzing as they conquered Everest.
